Recruitment Services

We don’t regard ourselves as a conventional recruitment agency but we actually do quite a lot of recruitment-related work. Designed to bring professional recruitment services within the reach of small to medium sized organisations, our work-based charging system means that clients pay far less than they would have through traditional “fixed fee” agencies. We encourage clients to determine the extent of external recruitment professional involvement that they want or need.

We can offer a full suite of recruitment services (all the way from developing position specifications and selection criteria, through to reference checking and negotiating remuneration packages and conditions of employment). But depending on client preferences, we might limit our involvement to determining a short list of candidates for interview or conduct interviews on the client’s behalf with candidates on their own shortlist.

This approach means that our clients get greater value for their recruiting dollar. They can afford to use experts resulting in a more competitive, searching and objective approach to recruitment.

A recent example proves the point. Our fee for finding an Executive for a listed company (package $160k) was well under $8,000, which included the generation of a job advertisement, listing on the web, resume analysis, short listing and interviewing selected candidates, and client briefing. Most organisations would expect to pay a lot more for this range of services.

Provision of these flexible, value-based recruitment services involves highly skilled and experienced HR professionals, well-versed in the art of recruitment and selection of professional and managerial staff. They are able to advise clients on the most effective and efficient ways of recruiting staff and are particularly sensitive to the requirements of small to medium sized businesses. Our recruitment professionals can:

Make sure you have a clear understanding of the actual job you want the new recruit to perform. This sounds obvious, but work often isn’t easy to define, and is a key reason for new staff failure.

Clearly define the competencies (that is the combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes) which the new recruit will need to bring to the job in order to do it efficiently. And just as importantly, differentiate the competencies which the recruit must have when he or she walks through the door, from those which the newcomer will actually learn on-the-job or on defined training courses.

Ensure you have a clear understanding of the appropriate wage or salary that you should be prepared to pay a new recruit.

Assist with the writing and placement of the advertisement, or the adoption of other strategies appropriate to attracting the sort of person you need in the job.

Support you through the various stages of reviewing applications, short-listing candidates, interviewing, testing, reference checking and so on.

Work with you in support of the actual job offer and the negotiation, as appropriate, of money and other conditions.

Finalise of the employment contract if necessary.

Develop and assist you in implementing an effective and personalised induction program for the new staff member.

Because of our various international activities, we are often involved in assisting companies to identify staff required for specialist overseas postings, and in some cases, for overseas organisations doing business in Australia. We also assist in ensuring that staff earmarked for overseas work (and their families) are properly prepared to cope with the challenges of working in a new cultural environment.

Apart from recruitment support of the type outlined above, we particularly encourage companies to make the very moderate investment involved in using the BelBin© Team Role System as a recruitment tool. This is a tool which can be used with consultancy support of the kind outlined above, or by your company on its own. Have a look here to learn more about using the BelBin tools as a support for recruitment.
