“I am, at heart, a tiresome nag complacently positive that there is no
human problem which could not be solved if people would simply do as I advise.”

Philosophy

There are many definitions of the consultant.
Many of them - probably most - are not flattering, and the small example above
(one of our favourites) is, perhaps, one of the kindest! You might enjoy some
other perspectives on consultancy - try a visit to Fun
Stuff - where there's several tongue-in-cheek views about consultants!
In our organisation we know that in the great scheme of consultancy, we
are a relatively small fish in a very big pond. Since our aim is “thrival”,
not just “survival”, we have to be very focused on our business approach.
The “How” of our Mission Statement outlines our philosophy of business. To
sum it up:
 |
First, we differentiate ourselves by a careful process of customisation
of programs and services. Our experience tells us that one size does not fit
all. “Flavour of the month”, pre-packaged products and fads will rarely
be an exact fit for the needs of your organisation. Our preference is always,
first to understand and define clearly, just what your current needs and
challenges are, and then to develop a carefully tailored response. This approach
is rarely more costly, and almost always significantly more effective. |
 |
Second, we are pragmatists. We survive, as individual professionals and
as a company, only so long as we consistently add value to the organisations we
work with. It doesn’t matter how good the theory sounds, business
“solutions” must work for you – for your organisation – or they have no
practical value; they are not “solutions” at all. So we always seek to
review and evaluate our work, to define relevant success factors and performance
indicators which will tell us clearly whether what we are doing is achieving the
desired results, or whether we need to change horses! |
 |
Third, our goal is always, not just to address and resolve the particular
issues for which we have been engaged, but to ensure that your organisation and
its staff are enriched in knowledge and skill by the experience. |
All good words, of course – but we believe in them sincerely, and try
to make them apply to all our business activities. Why not come and see?
