Welcome to what is a very quick attempt to start a 1st West Heidelberg "Home Page". Over the next year or two we hope that this web site might become bigger and better as a source of information about 1st West Heidelberg, its history, what it's presently doing, and our planned 50th Anniversary Reunion in 2004.

As a result of the efforts of Brian Smith (thanks heaps Brian) about 35 former members of the Group got together on the 9th June 2001 for a fun sausage sizzle and chat about the old days. We met at the old hall (Kookaburra Lodge) and were able to gather quite a lot of memorabilia which was on show on the day.

Many people will not be aware that the Group was originally started as 1st Baynesville in 1954. It went into recess from 1956, but was restarted (and renamed) in 1959 by our own Bill (Wings) Ager. A short summary of that early history was produced for the reunion and you can view it here. We are really keen to get additional early memories, so please pass yours on to Brian or Adrian (see below).

Only two of the original Patrol were present - Ian Ross (bearded, second from right in back row) and Adrian Walsh (who took the photo of the original Patrol and therefore isn't actually in the original shot - second row, second from left).

Be prepared for longish download times, although you should be able to view it as a progressive show, so you don't need to wait forever to enjoy it!)

We produced a working directory of everyone who attended the reunion and you can view the directory here. We are keen to find other former members and ask everyone to encourage former members to get in touch so that we can continue to add their name and contact details to our register. Some names we know of but haven't yet found are here. Have a look in case you know any of them.
